ADVANCED ROBOTICS | Grades 8-12 | August 5-9 | $460
Offered the week of August 5-9 from 9 am – 3 pm for students entering grades 8 – 12, or by permission
In 2021, our Advanced Robotics summer camp began with a brand new, Power Wheels electric car and stripped it down to only the most basic parts. By adding sensors and microcontroller boards, and adapting steering and drive motors, the team succeeded in proving it could operate by remote control and in “autonomous mode” by responding to information received from its sensors. In 2023, the new camp group improved the steering, traction and remote control functions.
This summer, students will work together to improve the mechanical design, the remote control system and install sensors for autonomous operation. The goal is a vehicle capable of navigating its environment, while also carrying equipment to collect environmental data and communicate with its control station.
The project will emphasize discovery, problem solving and teamwork.
